The UT Tyler Student Chapter of the Mathematical Association of America (a.k.a. Math Club)
Organization's Purpose
The Mathematical Association of America Student Chapter at the University of Texas at Tyler encourages students to study in the mathematical sciences and provides opportunities to meet other students interested in mathematics, interact with prominent mathematicians at national meetings, and receive career information.

Social Events
- Ice Cream Social
- Fall Picnic at Dr. McClaugherty's house
- Holiday party at Drs. Mann and McLoud's
- Superbowl party
- Spring Celebration at the Walker Farm
- Student organization sporting challenges; bowling, putt-putt golf, frisbee, etc.
Academic Events
- Mathematics talks by various professors
- Interdisciplinary talks; connections in chemistry and mathematics
- Career talks by visitors and alumni
- Integration Bee in the spring
- Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics
- Texas Sectional Meeting of the MAA
Charitable/Organizational Activities
- Pi Day held at the Discovery Science Place for school age children
- Free tutoring for local high school students
- Assisting at Sonya Kovelsky Day
- Booths at Student Organization Showcases and Freshman Orientations
- Sponsoring booth at SGA's annual carnival for children

Membership in the MAA Chapter
The University of Texas at Tyler
To become a member of the MAA Chapter at The University of Texas at Tyler, please download, complete, and return the membership form to Dr. McLoud (RBN 4008) or Dr. Koslover (RBN 4010) with a payment of $40. This includes both student membership to the National MAA ($30) and the local MAA Chapter at UT Tyler ($10). Local membership fee is waived for freshmen. Annual memberships are renewed at the beginning of the academic year in September but you can join at any time.
